This week’s PlayStation Plus update promises to be a rapturous affair, taking subscribers back to the depths of the ocean to dawn the Bid Daddy suit in Bioshock 2. Along with this free PlayStation 3 download, this week’s Plus update is rounded out by a couple of discounts on the PSN title Puddle, as well as the Rockstar Games Collection Volume 1.
Personally, I don’t feel like enough gamers gave Bioshock 2 a fair shake. The follow-up to one of the defining games of, well, ever, it was never going to meet the lofty expectations set by its predecessor. However, just because it isn’t as good as a classic doesn’t mean BioShock 2 wasn’t still a damn fine game. I liked the more linear approach to the story progression, doing away with the open map in exchange for sections of content broken up by an underwater train ride. The story dove further into Rapture’s mythos and the characters were just as memorable. The final act was stellar as well. And let’s not forget the surprisingly decent multiplayer component and one of the best DLC campaigns I’ve ever played.
If this first free Plus game of the month isn’t floating your boat, then maybe you’ll want to check out one of these other titles being offered at a discount. The physics-based puzzle game, Puddle will be marked down by 50 percent on both the PlayStation 3 and Vita, going for $3.50 and $2.80 respectively. Finally, The Rockstar Games Collection Volume 1, containing Red Dead Redemption, Grand Theft Auto: Episodes from Liberty City, L.A. Noire, and Midnight Club: Los Angeles Complete Edition, will see a 10 percent reduction in price for Plus members, going for $53.99.
Look for these latest Plus offerings to become available once the store update goes live tomorrow afternoon.
