Earlier this year, word spread of a blind World of Warcraft player and a guildmate who acted as his guide in the game. Blizzard has decided to pay tribute to this duo with a pair of items in the game.
As reported by WoW Insider in January, Hexu on Chamber of Aspects (EU) is a British Army soldier who was blinded by a roadside bomb. In spite of his injury, he was determined to keep playing WoW. His guildmate, Davidian, helps him through raids with follow/assist macros and voice chat.
Each player is now honored by a different helm. Hexu's Amplifying Helm is a mail agility helmet bearing the following flavor text: "A man with a friend is never without vision." Davidian's All-Seeing Eyes, designed for DPS plate wearers, is "sharp enough to see for two men."
Both of the helms are Rare, bind-on-equip items. Presumably they're world drops. The backstory behind them should make them very valued collectors' items, even if they don't have the best stats.
Blizzard added the two items with the launch of Mists of Pandaria. Pandaria, the latest expansion pack for the MMORPG, went live on Tuesday.
