Borderlands 2 is definitely going to be a day-one purchase for many gamers out there, but for me I've become increasingly skeptical due to some of the day-one DLC practices attached to a lot of games these days.
According to Side Mission [via Blues] Borderlands 2 will be receiving a new character class called a Mechomancer. The character is simply in the concept phase right now but will be released post-launch as DLC (dun, dun, dun).
The scary part about it is that a lot of people were curious how Gearbox will handle this DLC but president Randy Pitchford assuaged fans by saying that the Mechromancer, a young girl with a robotic arm who has the ability to control mechanical robots and has a Deathrap sidekick. The character will launch free of charge for those who buy the game on day-one.
You can't blame gamers for getting up in arms about DLC announcements for a game that's still heavily in development. It's a very slippery slope. An uproar happened over the Mass Effect 3 "From Ashes" day-one DLC and an even bigger uproar happened over the Street Fighter X Tekken DLC.
However, Gearbox has good rapport with the gaming community and most gamers are trusting that Borderlands 2 will be a complete experience right out of the box unlike a certain game where you have to pay $6.99 for the true ending.
One of the other highlights is that those who purchased the original Borderlands will receive free skins and heads for the class of their choice in Borderlands 2. Borderlands 2 will also sport additional in-game collectible replacement heads for each of the classes and new skins. Awesome, right?
We'll definitely keep you posted on additional info regarding Borderlands 2 and so far the game still seems to be shaping up to be one of the best games of the year. You can learn more or pre-order by visiting the Official Website.
