Borderlands 2 Mechromancer Video; No Plans For An MMO

Randy Pitchford lended his commentator skills and FPS expertise during a live play session of Borderlands 2, featuring an entire hour of gameplay footage. Amazing, eh? The footage features lots and lots and lots of shooting, as well as a brief look at the skill trees and various weapon mechanics of the Mechromancer.

In addition to talking all things Borderlands, Pitchford also took the time to answer some other interesting questions during a Now Playing session with GameSpot, including whether or not we would be seeing a potential Borderlands MMO. Unfortunately for die-hard fans, Randy sort of squashed the idea of a massive multiplayer iteration of the looter-shooter, saying...

Do you really want thousands of players running around here with you? Or maybe you just want a hub where you can party up and go do things as a party. How open do you want the world versus you being the hero? It's really hard to get that from an MMO.With the current console generation it's kind of tricky to explore some of these [MMO features].

Well, you don't care about what Gearbox isn't making. You're concerned about what they are making and at present everyone is holding their breath for the release of Borderlands 2. You came here to see an entire hour of gameplay footage, so an entire hour of gameplay footage you shall have.

For those of you who couldn't muster through the entire hour, take note that the Mechromancer is on display at the 56 minute mark, where they briefly showcase the skilltree and a brief look at the in-game character model.

According to Pitchford, the Mechromancer will probably arrive a little after the game's release in late September, so it's not quite going to be day-one DLC (a smart move by marketing).

Borderlands 2 is scheduled to release for the Xbox 360, PS3 and PC on September 18th. You can learn more about the game by paying a visit to the Official Website.
