It's a good news, bad news day regarding the multiplayer shooter Brink. There's a new gameplay video available but it reveals a delay.
The latest video preview offered up by G4 states the Brink is now due in Fall 2010. When first announced, the game's release was pegged at Spring 2010. You had to figure at least one of those early 2010 releases would get nudged into the holidays, no?
Luckily, the new gameplay footage is pretty impressive. It highlights the Smooth Movement Across Random Terrain (S.M.A.R.T.) mechanics, whereby players are able to quickly navigate a map's various obstacles with the press of a button. The exact "move" you perform depends on your surroundings and where you point your crosshair. In the video, a player climbs over an airport security gate or slides through it by pointing their crosshair up or down as they approach. The parkour-like movement and first-person camera gives the game a strong Mirror's Edge vibe.
This is apparently the first day in a week of Brink updates that will be unveiled at G4. Now that they've got the delay news out of the way, the rest of the week should be gravy.
