Call Of Duty: Ghosts Confirmed By Activision

Update: Activision has released the first trailer for the game.

Call of Duty: Ghosts is the name of the next Call of Duty game, publisher Activision confirmed today. The official Facebook page for the game has launched along with the first artwork.

"THE GHOSTS ARE REAL," reads the title image for the COD: Ghosts Facebook page. The image has the same skull painting featured in the leaked GameStop poster from yesterday.

Ghosts seems like a continuation of the Modern Warfare sub-series. A report from last fall said that the next game in the series was going to be called Modern Warfare 4. Ghost was the name of a Task Force 141 commando in that trilogy who wore a distinctive skull mask. Is the title of COD: Ghosts merely a coincidence, or are the titular Ghosts an organization inspired or founded by that commando?

Call of Duty: Ghosts's existence was first outed by two retailers. Those stores unveiled the box art and also revealed that the game is coming in November

Now that Activision has launched the game's Facebook page, the first details shouldn't be far behind. While only PS3 and Xbox 360 versions have been confirmed thus far by retailers, I assume that additional platforms will be announced as well.
