Call Of Duty: Strike Team Launches On Mobile Devices
iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch owner have a new Call of Duty game waiting for them in the App Store. Call of Duty: Strike Team, a brand new experience built specifically for mobile devices, is available for $6.99.
Strike Team's campaign is set in the year 2020. The United States has been attacked by an unknown enemy. Players lead a Joint Special Operations Team who will scour the globe to bring the terrorists to justice.
The player can customize their four-person squad with different skills and equipment. In combat, they can freely switch between first-person and third-person perspective. The first-person view gives you the traditional COD experience while third-person resembles a real-time strategy game.
The single-player campaign mode is accompanied by a survival mode. In survival matches, players will fight off waves of enemies for as long as they can. Their performance will be measured against other players with leaderboard. Sadly, though, there's no multiplayer option for this mode.
Strike Team is the first Call of Duty title developed by The Blast Furnace. This company was founded by Mark Washbrook and Mark Lloyd, the former heads of Rockstar London and Rockstar Leeds respectively. The studio, founded in late 2011, previously developed the iOS reboot of Pitfall.
"Call of Duty: Strike Team is all about giving a single player experience that is unlike anything else in the Call of Duty world in a way that matches the interests of players on-the-go," said Mark Washbrook. "By giving fans the option to play in either first-person or third-person views, and to switch between them on the fly, we've really opened the doors for gamers to have a fun and entertaining gameplay experience with Call of Duty: Strike Team, because they can play the game the way they want."
If you're planning to buy Strike Team, note that you'll need a recent iOS device to do so. Blast Furnace says that the game is only compatible with iPhone 4S or 5, iPad mini, iPad 2 or later, and iPod touch (5th generation). Also, you'll need to have iOS 6.0 or later installed.
