Who loves big flashy statistics? Well, Infinity Ward's got a good one for you: the total number of PS3 and Xbox 360 players who have played Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare online.

At Tuesday night's BAFTA ceremony (via Eurogamer), Infinity Ward's Rob Bowling revealed that 15 million unique console players have given COD4's multiplayer a spin. The exact split was 11 million on Xbox Live and 4 million on PSN. Despite Call of Duty: World at War's release in November, COD4 was still the 3rd most played game on Xbox Live last week.

No player statistics were provided for the PC version but Bowling was giving an acceptance speech for an award so you can't expect the guy to be thorough. Infinity Ward's currently working on Modern Warfare 2 and will release it this holiday season.
