Treyarch has finally unveiled the multiplayer for Call of Duty: Black Ops. A trailer sent out today reveals the new "Wager Match" game modes.
"Wager Match" is a completely separate experience from the ranked, progression-based multiplayer. In these new modes, players are betting in-game currency - "COD Points" - on their performance. The top three players in a match get paid while the rest don't. Here are the new modes described in the trailer
"One in the Chamber" - Everyone spawns with a pistol with only one bullet and three lives. If you kill another player, you can take their bullet but otherwise, you won't get any additional ammo
"Sticks and Stones" - Players get a crossbow, ballistic knife, and tomahawk. If you kill someone with a tomahawk throw, they'll be bankrupted.
"Gun Game" - Each player starts with a pistol. With each kill, they get progressively better weapons. The first player to progress through all weapons will win. Killing an opponent with a knife will cause them to go down to a lower rank of weaponry.
"Sharpshooter" - All players start with the same random weapon. That weapon switches after a fixed amount of time. You earn a perk with each kill and eventually a scoring multiplier as well.
What's not really explained, though, is whether "COD Points" have any importance outside of these matches. Guess we'll have to wait a bit to find out.
