We’ve all had time to accept that Call of Duty: World at War is being developed by Treyarch, and that it will take place in WWII. The Pacific Theater aspect doesn’t alleviate my initial boredom when it comes to the game, but I do intend on giving it a shot. After all, Activision is giving Treyarch longer than about 10 months to get the game done. But now we can start the full on judging as the debut trailer is up at Xbox LIVE Marketplace.
World at War’s trailer looks like…a Call of Duty game. The feel, the style and the essence is all there. As it was in CoD3, so seeing all of this doesn’t quite alleviate my concerns. There was some cool shit in the trailer, like lighting guys on fire. The problem is “cool shit” does not equal “compelling gameplay.” I truly think that Treyarch is going to pull this one off and we’ll all be surprised at the level of quality. That said, this trailer has not shown that to me in the least.
