You already knew Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was in development but now Infinity Ward has made it more official. They've released the first trailer for the game and provided a release date: November 10th, 2009.

The video below was posted on the newly unveiled website, modernwarfare2.com. It's a bigger tease than you'd expect. There's not only zero gameplay footage, but most of the time the only thing on-screen is a green soundwave. No doubt there's plenty of little hints about the game strewn throughout the audio, though, so feel free to pick that apart until IW releases more concrete information.

Still, it does give us the exact release date - "11/10/2009" - at the end. Note that Infinity Ward's an American developer so that's month/day/year, not day/month/year.

Interesting side note: the phrase Call of Duty doesn't appear once in the trailer or on the website. I don't think it means they've dropped the CoD prefix from the title - why pass up the easy money that brand name brings? - but it demonstrates how recognizable the phrase Modern Warfare is by itself.
