The Wii might not be getting the shiny new installment of Resident Evil next month but that doesn't mean Capcom's turned their back on the console. In fact, they may end up creating an all-new RE game for it.

"Personally I would like to create something on Wii in the Resident Evil family," Resident Evil 5 producer Masachika Kawata said to Eurogamer. "At the moment we don't know and have just been working on RE5, so watch this space."

Thus far, the Wii has received two Resident Evil games. Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles, a rail shooter composed of parts from previous Resident Evil games, was released in November 2007. In May 2007, a remake of Resident Evil 4 hit the Wii. Wii owners would no doubt appreciate an new installment hitting their platform but then again, it's not like Nintendo needs help selling Wii's.
