Comic Con: Halo Legends Announcement And Trailer

Halo is going anime. Microsoft announced that they're working with a number of prominent studios to produce Halo Legends, a series of animated short films.

Legends is a compilation of "short stories that explore different times, themes and characters from the Halo universe." The concept sounds similar to The Animatrix, in that it's fleshing out the setting rather than, say, telling new tales of Master Chief. The animation studios attached to Legends are Bones Inc (Fullmetal Alchemist), Casio Entertainment Inc. (Dai Nipponjin), Production I.G. (Ghost in the Shell), STUDIO4˚C (Batman: Gotham Knight) and Toei Animation (Dragon Ball). They'll be working with Microsoft's internal studio 343 Industries on the project.

The Halo Legends collection will be distributed worldwide by Warner Home Video. A release date hasn't been revealed. The project will officially debut at Comic Con later today so perhaps we'll have some sample footage later on to share.

Update: Here's the trailer.
