Earlier today, Conan O'Brien announced he's going to start a new talk show on TBS. Many were surprised by his move to basic cable but there was a much more shocking option on the table.

Deadline states that Conan was in discussions with Microsoft about hosting a show on Xbox Live. The article only mentions it in passing so it's not clear how serious these talks were or if there was ever a good chance they'd happen. I'm also a bit curious as to who approached who.

The fact that it was even considered is noteworthy. Granted, Xbox Live does have some original programming like The Guild. Getting Conan would've been a huge "get" for Microsoft and Xbox 360 owners, though.
