It’s not every day that an enhanced version of a console game makes the jump to mobile, but that’s exactly what’s happening with The Conduit HD. Originally released for the Nintendo Wii back in 2009, one of the console’s few successful first-person shooters has now been optimized for NVIDIA Tegra 3 quad-core devices and is ready for download on Google Play.
“The team really amped up the assets for a true 720p experience and now it looks even better than the console version,” said TegraZone Mobile Games GM, Bill Rehbock. “It sets the bar for what can be done with the NVIDIA Tegra 3.”
Developed by High Voltage Software, the same folks responsible for the Wii version of The Conduit and its sequel, are bringing the enhanced version to mobile in the form of its full single player campaign. The Conduit HD features high resolution graphics, touchscreen controls and gameplay that has been rebalanced for tablet play.
The Conduit HD is set in Washington D.C. during an alien invasion. Secret Service agent Michael Ford gets caught in the crossfire and eventually recruited by a mysterious organization that decks him out with some out of this world weaponry and gadgets. Now it’s up to Ford to send the aliens packing, an experience that can now be had on mobile devices.
“Our goal with The Conduit was to bring a hardcore game experience to a ‘casual’ market,” said High Voltage CEO and Founder Kerry Ganofsky. “I believe we’ve reached that goal again with The Conduit HD.”
If you’re interested in checking it out for yourself, The Conduit HD offers its first two levels free of charge on Google Play. From there, you can buy the full game for $4.99 or buy each half of the game for $2.99 a pop.
