Conduit Sells Only 72K In First Month

The Wii might be starved for first-person shooters but apparently Wii owners aren't starving for them. High Voltage's The Conduit sold under 72,000 copies in its US debut.

The figure comes from the NPD Group's June sales statistics, which were compiled from May 31st to July 4th (thanks, Edge). Conduit was released on June 23rd so we're only looking at a couple weeks worth of data. Does that make the criticism premature? Not really.

Conduit's poor performance seems to fit into a wider narrative for the Wii and DS: adult-oriented games don't sell very well. Other recent examples of this trend include MadWorld and Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars. Unlike those other two games Conduit was rated Teen and not Mature but that didn't seem to help matters.

Nintendo's probably not too broken up over it, though. The DS and Wii managed to outsell all of the competing game platforms in June.
