Crytek's lead programmer who worked on Crysis 2 and the top-end, AAA game engine, CryEngine 3, is moving on in the world to newer and different companies, specifically Red 5 Studios. Ury Zhilinsky will be helping the new developer work on their top tier MMOs and it will be interesting to see how that all turns out.
It was announced today that Zhilinsky joined the Red 5 team, and will be one of many more top-tier talents to join the company in the following months.
Red 5 CEO, Mark Kern stated that...
"We’re still a relatively small team here at Red 5 Studios because we’ve been very selective when choosing ‘tribe’ members,” ... “It’s not just about talent, it’s about what happens when you put together a group that shares the same commitment to quality, community, and fun. Ury’s skill and experience make him an asset that any team would be happy to have, but it’s his development philosophy that makes him a fit for the ‘tribe’.”
I kind of like this idea of how they're being so selective in their recruitment measures. It makes sense. They're aiming to build certain kinds of games and they're looking for certain kinds of people to help them achieve those goals.
Right now, Red 5 is still developing and working on the upcoming MMOTPS-RPG, FireFall. The blockbuster game has been receiving a lot of praise around the industry and it's almost guaranteed to be a smash hit success given its free-to-play business model, open-world environments, and action-oriented gameplay themes.
In addition to FireFall, Red 5 is also currently recruiting for an unnamed, AAA project that will be developed for cloud based services. That's all the info they were willing to release on the project.
Anyway, you can sign-up to participate in the beta for FireFall or learn more about the game by visiting the Official Website. If you'd like a job working on the game feel free to learn more by paying a visit to the Red 5 Job's page. Those who are interested in working on the Stage 5 project feel free to drop by the Official Website.
