Crytek: We Don't Have The New Xbox

Earlier this week a rumor went around that Crytek got their hands on the new Xbox console. Furthermore, they were using it to create TimeSplitters 4 and that the console and game would be revealed at E3 2011.

Apparently this rumor got enough traction elsewhere on the Internet that Crytek felt the need to offer a rebuttal to IGN: "Relating to the recent rumours, Crytek do not have any next generation hardware from Microsoft, nor do we know when Microsoft may announce future hardware or what that hardware will entail."

"Crytek are working at pushing the boundaries of what current technology can bring, including our focus on DX11 which will be released shortly as an update for Crysis 2, and we believe this work, added to our estimations of what the new hardware will provide, set up CryENGINE as a next generation engine for all consoles."

If you're wondering how TimeSplitters 4 got pulled into all of this, it's because Crytek owns the intellectual property these days. They purchased TimeSplitters studio Free Radical Design in 2009. The studio now operates as Crytek UK.
