In case you didn’t know, there’s more character options in DC Universe Online than just the standard-fare assortment of masked heroes from the DC comics. Players can actually create their own character, as it was outlined when the game was originally announced. Well, we have some new screen-captures and a new trailer up featuring custom characters.

Unlike City of Heroes/City of Villains, Sony’s DC Universe Online actually features cool looking custom character outfits and parts. What’s most impressive about the created-character feature is that the player characters don’t look like rejected fanboys from a comic-convention; they actually look like lesser heroes from a DC comic. In the trailer, there’s a rip-off of Fire-Fly, a Storm wannabe, and there’s even a fellow, Laff Riot, who looks like a henchman for the Joker. But still, at least they look authentic enough.

The trailer is primarily filled with character stills, and set against some heroic music. And if I must say so myself, there’s tons of fan-service…you know, because sometimes it’s easier fighting crime with less clothes.
