For everyone who thought that Dante in this iteration of the famed poem was just some crusader remake of historic protagonist, then think again. In this new developer documentary about the circle of Anger, it reveals a combat-hardened Dante who’s ready to kick butt in every corner of hell.

The trailer just isn’t about how kick-butt Dante is in Visceral Games’ incarnation of Dante’s Inferno, it’s also about the mix of abilities that can be utilized throughout the game. Dante didn’t go into hell empty handed and he certainly didn’t go in unprepared. Wielding a cross that has Force-like capabilities and Death’s scythe, Dante is able to both incapacitate enemies with holy powers while dealing out major pain with the scythe.

The dev doc also talks about the hardships Dante will face in the level of Anger and how it’ll be a true test of a player’s combat skills throughout that phase of the game.
