Electronic Arts revealed today that they're teaming up with Starz Media’s Film Roman to produce another animated, feature-length film based on an EA game. This film will be a companion to the upcoming Dante's Inferno video game.

EA and Starz Media previously collaborated to create Dead Space: Downfall, a prequel to the 2008 survival horror game Dead Space. The Dante's Inferno film, just like the game, is inspired by the classic poem by Dante Alighieri about a man taking a trip through Hell. Old-ass poetry generally doesn't translate into good video gamin' though so for the game/film, Dante's now a bad-ass knight battling his way through Hell.

“The feature will explore aspects of the poem that the game does not, and will provide more insight into the characters and the unique story adaptation that the game has established," said Jonathan Knight, Dante’s Inferno executive producer and creative director.

The film will probably be released around the same time as the game - due in 2010 according to the press release. The release also mentions "worldwide home entertainment distribution" as well as "international television and domestic syndication" so expect to expect the film on DVD and possibly cable.
