DarkSector, Cipher Complex, Army of Two and The Darkness are all games that get people giddy when you mention them. And while Army of Two seems to be the most interesting out of the group, Darksector isn’t too far behind. There’s a new trailer that showcases the game’s play-schematics, with commentary from the lead developer.

Featuring truly next-gen visuals and animations, DarkSector puts players on the path of a destined-for-death main character who finds himself on the bad end of a mutation that seems to be going horribly awry. Humans think he’s a freak and the freaks still see him as human...what’s a deformed fellow with super-human strength to do? Easy, kill everything in sight and hope it doesn’t get back up. That’s pretty much the setup and story-drive for DarkSector. Although, I’m sure there’s more to it than just that.

Story aside, Steve Sinclair from Digital Extremes gives gamers a first-hand look at some exclusive gameplay footage of DarkSector. Without a doubt this game is a cinematic gore-fest that has some very, very appealing gameplay elements. The creatures move and react with amazing fluidity and the close-combat mechanics show off just how intense and vicious the protagonist can be. It’s really sweet stuff, to say the least. And while DarkSector’s release is pretty far off, you can at least treat your eyes to the new trailer. Enjoy.
