Today Relic Entertainment formally announced the new "Last Stand" mode for Dawn of War II. "Last Stand" is a free co-op mode for three players.

Each player controls a different character - the Space Marine, the Ork, and the Eldar - and they must work together to kill waves of enemies. By controlling map points, defeating enemies, and just surviving you'll earn points and level up. With each level, you'll gain new weapons and items to use and this gear carries over to your next match.

There's no specific release date for "Last Stand" yet. The writer of the GameSpy preview says it'll arrive sometime in October, though. Relic will also be showing it off at PAX next weekend.
