EA has released a huge gameplay video to introduce players to Dead Space 3. The twenty minutes of footage, taken from the earliest parts of the game, give us a look at the new co-op and shooter elements.
Isaac Clarke will be assisted in this game by John Carver. However, Carver will only be present if you're playing in co-op mode. You won't have some half-wit A.I. trailing behind you in single-player. Subsequently, the story and gameplay mechanics will be altered slightly depending on whether you're playing alone or with a friend.
In addition to the usual planet-load of necromorphs, players will also have to contend with Unitologists. These human cultists are more mobile than necromorphs and wield firearms. Fortunately, the player characters are more agile in this game and can dodge behind cover to avoid enemy fire.
Dead Space 3 will be arriving in stores next February. That should give us all plenty of time to debate the new co-op shooter direction of the series.
