To get you properly psyched for Dead Space 2's early 2011 release, Visceral Games will be releasing a prequel downloadable game. Dead Space Ignition will hit PSN and Xbox Live Arcade this fall.

Ignition is described as an "interactive comic." It's being written by Dead Space scribe Antony Johnston and co-developed with Sumo Digital. You'll encounter three new hacking minigames called Hardware Crack, Trace Route and System Override. Your choices through the game will result in you receiving one of four unique endings. Each ending unlocks Dead Space 2 content, such as a new suit for Isaac.

Dead Space 2 is due on January 25th worldwide. Though Ignition is apparently only coming to the PS3 and 360, note that DS2 will be getting a PC version.
