Dead Space Sells 1 Million, Coming To WiiAuthor: Pete Haas

Though Dead Space didn't sell nearly as well as the heavy-hitter sequels released this past holiday season, it did actually do pretty well. EA CFO Eric Brown stated on a conference call Tuesday that Dead Space and EA's other new action IP, Mirror's Edge, have sold over 1 million copies apiece.
EA's not sitting on their laurels, though. In the same conference call, EA CEO John Riccitiello mentioned that Dead Space would be making its way to the Wii. He offered no details beyond that, though it's pretty easy to imagine what a Wii version of the game would be like: aim with a crosshair to shoot Necromorphs and then wave the Wiimote around like a jackass if to break free of a monster's death-grip. Will Mirror's Edge get the Wii treatment too? I'm not completely sure how you'd translate the climbing and jumping of the game to the Wiimote - in fact, I shudder at the thought of it. Still, it might be a way to turn Mirror's Edge into a very lucrative franchise if done right. |
