EA filed a trademark for "Visceral Games" a couple months back and we assumed it was the new name for Dead Space developer EA Redwood Shores. Today, EA made an announcement that confirmed our suspicions.
EA Redwood Shores, who are currently working on Dead Space: Extraction, Dante's Inferno and two other unannounced titles, will now be known as Visceral Games. They will also have a team based in Melbourn, Australia. Redwood Shores, California is also home to the EA corporate headquarters and The Sims Studio and neither of those offices will be rebranded. "We are extremely proud of the EA Redwood Shores Studio legacy. The name change to Visceral Games is just the next step in the evolving story of EA's studios," said Visceral Games general manager Glen Schofield in a letter on the studio's new website. "We are not abandoning our past but embracing the future. With an obsessive focus on excellence and a relentless commitment to intense action, Visceral Games is set to execute all future games at the quality, innovation and polish of Dead Space. This is just the beginning. Join us as we forge ahead." Well, happy that mystery's been solved. Now it's time to figure out what those two unannounced projects are. |
