Codemasters has revealed the release window for the upcoming sequel to the 2007 off-roading game DiRT. DiRT 2 will hit stores in September.

The UK-based developer announced the September release at their Gamers Day press event, according to . DiRT 2 will be powered by the EGO Engine, a modified version of the Neon engine used for the original game that's said to offer better texture detail and environment modeling. The sequel's also said to offer all-new multiplayer.

It'll be released on PS3, PC, and Xbox 360. DiRT 2, like the original, will bear the name of the late racer Colin McRae outside the US. McRae died shortly after DiRT's release and DiRT 2 will be a sort of tribute to his career and feature the various events he participated in.
