Diablo III Collector's Edition Outed By Ratings BoardAuthor: Pete Haas

The BBFC, the British ratings board, has a new listing for Diablo III. It specifically mentions a Collector's Edition is being prepared for the upcoming PC RPG.
The BBFC listing, spotted by BlizzPlanet, is for a cinematics and behind-the-scenes DVD contained within the Diablo III CE. It seems this DVD will have over two hours and 49 minutes of video footage. Seems like a solid component of a CE. It's likely this DVD isn't the only thing included in a special bundle of the game - just the only thing that the BBFC needs to rate. Blizzard tends to release pretty beefy CE's. The StarCraft II Collector's Edition came with the original StarCraft, an art book, a soundtrack CD, comic book, and DLC in addition to a behind-the-scenes DVD. Diablo has an equally devoted fanbase so you have to expect Blizzard's planning a crazy bundle for them. Maybe they'll include a nice, big statue of the Lord of Terror himself. As Blizzplanet points out, the BBFC mentions a December 7th release date for the game. Blizzard recently announced an early 2012 launch for the game. The date provided to the BBFC suggests that Blizzard really did think they could get the game out by the end of this year, though. Would've been a weird release date - the 7th is a Wednesday - but it's a moot point now. Diablo III has been in closed beta since the end of September. The beta gives players access to all five character classes and lets them play the first portion of Act I. To be eligible for the beta, you need to opt in through your Battle.net account. Alternately, you could play the odds and hope to get a beta key through a special promotion. |
