Next to a price drop for the PS3, the number one thing that Sony hears from screaming gamers is requests for a price drop and a redesign for the PSP. It’s been getting it’s a** royally stomped by the DS as we all know and now Sony hopes to change their fates a little bit by responding to gamers' requests.
To introduce their new device Sony brought out a very special guest. Ladies and Gentlemen…Chewbacca! That’s right, that big walking carpet marched out on stage to present a special bundle. The bundle will include the new PSP with a special Darth Vader design on the back along with a copy of Star Wars Battlefront 3. All of this for $199. Not too shabby. If I didn’t already have one I’d be getting ready to pick one up. Another bundle is available with Ratchett and Clank PSP included.
As far as cosmetic changes to the device, there isn’t not much to report. Theres two new colors, silver and white and the unit itself is a bit smaller although nothing to get excited about. It’s slimmer and lighter, but the best part about the redesign is the new D-Pad. It’s actually worth a damn now. I don’t know about anybody, but once Street Fighter Alpha 3 came out, my D-Pad was shot.
There’s also a new function available that totally makes the PSP badass. You can now display videos and games that are playing on the PSP through your TV. It’s sort of like the Gameboy player for the Gamecube. Although now that UMD movies can be played on a TV, I may actually be tempted to pick one or two of them up.
Picture: Chewbacca is still pissed he didn't get the part in Harry and the Hendersons.
