Resident Evil 5 has somehow managed to be one of the most hotly anticipated games of the past few years despite Capcom only releasing a few bits of media. Driven mainly by the rabid adoration fans have for the game’s predecessor, Resident Evil 4, the fifth installment has returned to E3 2007 to raucous applause and much hooting and hollering. The combination of restored faith in the series and a setting that is both timely and extremely interesting has people drooling over this one and I simply cannot blame them.

This trailer is almost as cryptic as the last one we got. It shows off more of the environments we’ll be traversing, the choice in setting is still simply stunning and really taps into some of the base fears that westerners have (i.e. Africa is terrifying.) Once again it looks like they are straying away from the whole zombie thing and instead opting for something a bit more real and appropriate. From the looks of it, this is going to be a story about a warlord coming to power in an African country. If I had to guess, he’s probably exploiting the people of the city/country/village by way of a drug. Since so much else about this trailer is so true to life, I would assume Capcom would try to use this plot device as it’s actually something that happens with frightening frequency in developing African nations
