E3 2009: The Grinder Is The Hardcore Game Nintendo NeedsAuthor: William Usher

All during the live press conference by Nintendo at this year’s E3, most gamers were sitting there thinking “Where are the real games?” Nintendo just drolled on, constantly announcing crap most core gamers couldn’t give an apple-core of a care about. Nevertheless, High Voltage Studios finally broke the gates open on the E3 show-floor for their upcoming FPS, The Grinder and it looks darn good for a Wii game.
The Grinder is basically a straight-forward first-person shooter. The game is a bit like an FPS-version of High Voltage’s action-RPG, Hunter: The Reckoning, with hordes of enemies swamping the player at every turn and the muzzle-flash of the weapon illuminating the stage on a perpetual basis. That’s my kind of action, folks. One thing of particular note is that the graphics aren’t bad but the animations are amazing. The weapons firing and moving seem to be seamlessly attached to the movements of the Wii-mote. However, only a fully playable demo will render whether the newly enhanced precision mechanics for the Wii-mote with the Wii Motion-Plus will improve rotation and aiming in FPS games for the Wii. You can check out the new debut trailer for the game below or visit the Official Website for more info on The Grinder. As always, be sure to stay tuned in with Blend Games for further news and updates regarding all things gaming.
