Will Wright’s latest foray into game design, and what we hope is pure genius, has seen its fair share of delays. EA has said that Spore will definitely be out before Christmas. EA CEO John Riccitiello described the company as bullish in a financial conference call on Thursday. Other than this statement, no release date window has been announced for Wright’s new sim.

Spore is highly anticipated in my house. I’d like to see if it can possibly live up to the hopes and dreams the title elicits, and my wife is a Sims expert who would like to see how this new fangled thing stacks up to the classic. Of course, it was last year that Riccitiello was saying Spore would see a May 2008 release. Take anything EA says on the game’s release date with a grain of salt.

The evolutionary sim from the mind of Will Wright will have players traverse across the eons as they develop from a single cell organism into a space faring species. Whenever it’s released you can expect a lot of hubbub and hoopla.
