Well, EGM didn't relaunch on December 1st as originally planned but don't worry, the gaming mag's resurrection is still planned. They've announced a new launch window for the magazine and some details on its format.

The first issue of the reborn EGM will hit March 2010. Each copy contains a special code that gives the reader access to a digital, weekly version of the mag. EGM[i]: The Digital Magazine expands upon articles in the print edition and contains exclusive content as well.

The cover story of the premier issue will discuss the best game of the year. The issue will also contain the usual gaming mag fixin's, like previews and columns. The latter will be written by returning EGM vets like Dan “Shoe” Hsu and Sean “Seanbaby” Reiley.

Hearst Corporation purchased the 1UP Group (a business unit which encompassed EGM, 1UP.com, and a few other sites) from Ziff Davis in January but suspended publication of EGM. In May, EGM founder Steve Harris purchased the print and digital publishing rights from UGO. The sales and marketing of the relaunched mag's print edition will be handled by Time/Warner Retail Sales & Marketing.
