F1 2010 Dev Diary Discusses Fancy Cars And Slick Tracks

published: 2010-07-05 12:55:15
The developers behind the upcoming Formula One 2010 for the Xbox 360, PC and PS3 have shed a little light on how they approached the car and track designs for the game. One of the highlights is that they tried keeping things as authentic as possible, even utilizing the talents of an F1 driver to help distinguish just how realistic the tracks should be.

Technical consultant and real-life F1 driver, Anthony Davidson commented about his role in helping the team bring the tracks to life, saying…
“Driving the real world circuits enables me to give that impression to the guys creating the game,” …. “There’s all these details that only a driver would know about. For instance, turn eight in Spa; I know straight away any car I have ever driven there always understeers and it’s knowing that kind of detail as a driver that you can get over into the game. The circuits feel really spot on.”

You can check out the new developer diary for the game, grabbing a few glimpses at the tracks, cars and how the team managed with making sure everything sounded authentic and not like they grabbed modulated engine sounds from radio controlled cars.
