The digital re-release of Fable 2 has begun. The first episode is now available through Xbox Live for free.

The entire game will be released over time in five installments. Episode 1 takes you through the childhood and young adult stages of F2. Considering it doesn't cost you a dime to download this, this is essentially a long demo.

The other four installments, which won't be free, aren't on Xbox Live yet. If you don't feel like twiddling your thumbs after finishing the first episode, you can buy a boxed copy of the game and continue your adventures immediately. It seems the saved files for the digital version can be used with the retail version.

Players who own different versions of F2 will be able to play cooperatively together. The digital F2 is compatible with the previously released downloadable content, Knothole Island and See the Future.
