Fallen Earth Pre-Order Bonus Is Actually Useful In The Game

published: 2009-09-21 11:36:18
A lot of times publishers and retail outlets have pre-order gigs that include something useless or throw-away worthy: a hat, a poster, a themed pencil or maybe a trading card that’s part of an incomplete and unreleased deck. Yeah, usually it’s worthless stuff. This time, however, Steam and game developer Fallen Earth (same name as the game) announced that when gamers pre-order Fallen Earth from Steam they’ll receive an in-game shirt that does more than raise the visual appeal of the player.

According to the press release, Jessica Orr, product manager for Fallen Earth commented that…
"We are excited to bring Fallen Earth to Steam's thriving community of subscribers…. "The Steam partnership gives our fans more choices and flexibility for purchase."

So what’s so special about the pre-order bonus? Well, it comes with a special in-game t-shirt that where the player gains +5 bonus to the Scavenging, Nature and Geology skills, which means they can gather more components faster and more efficiently, as well as 10+ bonus to the Social skill that will give players an advantage on purchasing items at discount prices from market vendors in the game. Neat bonus, eh?

For those of you who have no idea what Fallen Earth is about, just know that it’s like Mad Max, Fallout 3 and Borderlands, except it’s an MMO. That really does sum up the entire game, really. You go around in a post-apocalyptic society within a world that revolves around the themes and terrain of the Grand Canyon and fight off opposing factions while customizing your own ride and building your own weapons. And yes, it’s as cool as it sounds.
