Far Cry 2 Sells One Million In 3 Weeks

published: 2008-11-12 09:36:44
Whether people thought the multiplayer was good or not just doesn’t matter. Far Cry 2, Ubisoft’s latest in the Far Cry series, has surpassed the one-million mark in sales, thus making it an instant hit. Does this mean that the company can now focus on fixing the parts of the game that need help?

"The holiday quarter is off to a solid start with the successful launch of Far Cry 2,” said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer at Ubisoft. "The game is well on track to achieve our expectations for the year."

‘On track to achieve our expectations?’ I guess a million SKUs sold in three weeks was just the starting mark of success for Ubisoft’s expectations of Far Cry 2. Often times that's a milestone most companies never see their games surpass. I find it odd that Mr. Guillemot's press statements seem to reflect a hint of disappointment.

Nevertheless, the game is currently available for PC, Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3 for the suggested retail price of $59.99. You can visit the Official Far Cry 2 Website for more information and details on the game, or check out Blend Games' Review of Far Cry 2 to see if it's worth buying.
