Fire Emblem: Awakening Looking Sharp In New Trailer

published: 2012-10-25 12:11:51
Fire Emblem: Awakening looks like it’s shaping up quite nicely headed into its 2013 release window. The strategy JRPG was shown off during the Nintendo Direct presentation this morning, giving U.S. series fans a taste of what they can expect out of the game once it lands on the 3DS next year.

Along with some pretty cell shaded cutscene footage, the latest Fire Emblem: Awakening trailer also shows off some of the series’ trademark strategic battle system. It doesn’t look like the series has seen too much of an overhaul in this latest iteration but, as the old saying goes: if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Fire Emblem has a rather large fanbase and, judging by this latest trailer, series vets will be getting more of the gameplay they’ve grown to love wrapped in a beautiful new package.

Originally announced at E3 2012 and confirmed for a 2013 U.S. release over the summer, this is the first we’re really seeing of Fire Emblem: Awakening in several months. It looks like that time has not been wasted, however, as the above trailer makes Awakening look like a real winner on the 3DS.
