Activision announced last week that Guitar Hero 5 would arrive this fall. Today they revealed some actual details.

A USA Today article published today revealed a few of the songs that will ship with the game. Though the confirmed tracks below are mostly classics, there's going to be a lot of new music too. Half of the songs are said to be from the last decade and a quarter is from the last 18 months:
  • Johnny Cash - "Ring of Fire"
  • Santana - "No One To Depend On"
  • Bob Dylan - "All Along the Watchtower"
  • Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - "Runnin' Down a Dream"
  • Vampire Weekend - "A-Punk"
  • The White Stripes - "Blue Orchid"
  • The Rolling Stones - "Sympathy for the Devil"
  • Kings of Leon - "Sex on Fire"
  • Stevie Wonder - "Superstition"
Two new game modes were also revealed in the article, both of which are geared toward playing with your friends. In Competitive Fest mode, four players (or eight players online) compete for the high score. Party Play mode turns your game into a jukebox of sorts. You can let the music run and then jump in mid-song and start playing. You can also switch difficulty level or instruments in the middle of a song, too.

As with recent console installments in the series, Guitar Hero 5 will appear on the PS3, Xbox 360, Wii, and PS2. The price hasn't been disclosed yet.
