NCSoft isn’t always about milking gamers out of money. Their latest expansion for Aion actually happens to be free. The new content entitled Assault on Balaurea is currently available for subscribers of the CryEngine-powered MMO.

Jaeho Lee, CEO NCsoft West made a few remarks about the new expansion, saying…

“With this expansion, we continue to make Aion a truly global franchise by offering customised features catering to Western audience gameplay styles, something we’ve been looking forward to bringing our players since launch.”

Assault on Balaurea sports new instances, new PvP zones, new items, new weapons, new armor, and new pets. There’s basically a bevy selection of “newness” in the free expansion that should get current players geeked and former players slightly enticed to check out the new content.
