Word on the street is that multiplayer-only PS3 shooter Warhawk is getting a huge update tomorrow morning. Released last August, the game's no spring chicken anymore but Incognito Entertainment's hoping to lure players back into the fold with a slew of new content for no charge.
According to game director Dylan Jobe, who announced the 1.4 Update on Playstation.Blog yesterday, the patch will add two new game modes. The first new mode, called "Hero," will designate one player on each team as a "hero" with heightened damage and armor. The second mode, called "Collection," where teams fetch energy cores strewn across the map and try to bring them to their team's reactor while preventing the enemy from doing the same. The patch will also include a lot of little fixes and make the game a bit more user-friendly. For example, there's a new "Quick Join" matchmaking feature so you can just jump right into an online match from the main menu. Additionally, game hosts will now have an "autokick idle players" feature to get rid of players who have abandoned their controllers to go smoke drugs (or whatever us young people do these days). Jobe also mentions that the 1.5 Update will add Trophies (PS3's answer to Xbox Achievements). The 1.4 Update will be available at 6 a.m. Eastern time tomorrow. Go forth and bask in the freeness of it. |
