A job posting went up on Gamasutra recently for an Animation Director for the Microsoft Games Studios “Halo” team. It was one of many postings from the company, actually. I wouldn’t think that this is related to anything having to do with Halo 3: ODST or even Halo Wars seeing as how those two games are either already in the late stages of development or have already been released and sold a good number to public.

A Halo IV is not a must in any sort of fashion but it certainly is Microsoft’s biggest “cash cow”, so why wouldn’t they make another one? Who knows if Master Chief will be back or if will even continue the same story line? Do you really care? Whoever the main character is, they'll no doubt be of the ass-kicking variety.

I wouldn’t expect any sort of announcement on this unnamed Halo project until long after Halo 3: ODST is shipped and Bungie no longer has their hand in the Halo franchise. The new game will be under the supervision of Frankie’s Halo Franchise Development Group. Halo 4 is still a ways off but it’s never too early to start looking for your production team.
