In Left 4 Dead 2, you won't just be slapping zombies with the butt of your rifle anymore. The game has ten different melee weapons for you to use when you run out of bullets. Here's the full list of stabbies/bashies that you'll get your hands on:

• Cricket Bat
• Crowbar
• Electric Guitar
• Fire Axe
• Frying Pan
• Katana
• Machete
• Tonfa (police baton)
• Chainsaw

The list was provided to Joystiq by Valve's Chet Faliszek. Before they patched Left 4 Dead so that you couldn't spam pistol whip and go all Diablo on hordes of zombies, I would've thought katanas and machetes to be an unnecessary extravagance. However, now these weapons will be quite useful and I look forward to making their acquaintance.
