Coming on the heels of the news about the new expansion for Age of Conan due out later this year, Funcom had another announcement to make today. With tons of gamers complaining about all the problems that Funcom’s once-popular MMORPG, Age of Conan: The Hyborian Adventures incurred the company closed down a number of servers. The game was really glitchy and made it difficult for many gamers to enjoy. Well, Funcom has heard the cries about bugs and the pleas to fix the glitches and they have revamped the game and are currently running a free-to-play campaign for it.

“For anyone with an inactive account who ever thought about giving it another try, this is your chance,” says Morten Larssen, Vice-President of Sales and Marketing at Funcom. “After the hugely successful launch last year we immediately started working on updates that would make the game better and provide more content for players, and that is what we have been doing this past year. With the most recent update just out the door, this is the time to ask players to come back and see the results!”

Yeah well, to get some players back they needed more than just new content. In addition to expansion packs, big fixes and client updates the company has also issued statements saying that Age of Conan players with closed accounts can reactivate them and receive a free-to-play pass for two whole weeks. Yeah, only two weeks. What’s more is that this offer is only valid between July 8th and July 22nd and players who decide to reactivate their account can do so at no extra charge..

“It has been quite a journey for the entire team getting to where we are today,” says Game Director on ‘Age of Conan’ Craig Morrison. “I think that players have always seen the great potential in ‘Age of Conan’ and we have put a lot of effort into realizing that potential. The game has improved tremendously since launch and we look forward to having players come back and seeing the changes for themselves!”
