Nintendo President Satoru Iwata gave his GDC keynote address and the man dropped some bombs on the audience. Here's a summary of the biggest news from the speech, which included a Wii storage solution and a new Zelda game:
  • For six months after the Nintendo DSi's launch, gamers who buy a DSi and connect to the new Nintendo DSi Shop will receive 1,000 free Nintendo DSi points. These points can be used to buy DSiWare games and applications through the online store. The DSi launches on April 5th and that means the offer will expire on October 5th.
  • Nintendo DSi points can be bought either directly through the DSi Shop with a credit card or by picking up Nintendo Points Cards at retail locations. The cards will be available on the DSi's launch date in select locations.
  • Two of the upcoming DSiWare games were revealed: Moving Memo (working name) and WarioWare: Snapped!. Memo lets players create their own digital flipbooks while Snapped! is said to incorporate the DSi's built-in cameras in some way.
  • There's a new Legend of Zelda game coming to the DS called The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks. Spirit Tracks has the same visual style as Phantom Hourglass and will feature the classic Zelda mix of dungeon exploration, puzzle solving, and combat. Link will travel the world in a steam locomotive, which will have a cannon just like his boat from Phantom. Look for the game later this year.
  • A system update for the Wii today will enables users to save WiiWare, Virtual Console games, and Channels games to high capacity SD cards. You can play games from these SD cards by accessing a new SD Menu from the main Wii menu.
  • One of the new games coming to WiiWare is called Rock N’ Roll Climber. It's a rock climbing game that utilizes the Wii Balance Board.
