We’re probably still in the devil dealing phases, but I’m sure some intrepid Blend reporters will make a showing at the famed San Diego Comic Con this summer. Not me though, that’s just too far away from good ol’ New York. Besides, what would my family say if I was in the area and didn’t stop by to steal their beer and Mexican food? Instead I get New York’s Comic Con. If I even decide to go – here’s a a hint, I won’t – the event isn’t quite up to the standards of its west coast brethren.

Then again, the New York Comic Con has gone to great lengths in improving it’s offerings each year. This year games are making a breakthrough appearance with Namco Bandai, Square-Enix, Konami and Ubisoft all making a grand show of it. And what would be better to kick of a Games Summit at East Siiiide Comic Con than a panel on killing Locusts? Nothing, that’s what. Epic Games president Mike Capps and Gears of War 2 scriptmaster Joshua Ortega will be at the event to discuss all things Gears. Maybe they’ll even explain how there actually is a story buried in the gruff grunts of Marcus Fenix.

The New York Comic Con is taking place April 18-20 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. The Game Summit, in particular, is happening on the 20th.
