GameCock Conquered By SouthPeak

Who seen this one coming? I bet you didn’t. It’s like a rock hitting you on the head once you step outside your house...that’s just how unexpected this whole thing was. But there’s no need to worry, because GameCock’s games will still be published, it’ll just be done under their new leader, SouthPeak Interactive.

Despite Two Worlds not being that good a game, it hasn’t slowed down SouthPeak from turning out some best-selling titles across multiple platforms. And in response to their growth, they have decided to acquire the renegade newcomer, GameCock. In a press statement, Melanie Mroz, CEO of SouthPeak, stated that...“Gamecock brings us a solid slate of upcoming titles, including Legendary, Mushroom Men and Velvet Assassin and supports our strategy of working with independent developers. We are excited to give the Gamecock titles a bigger platform to succeed.”

Speaking of the fore-mentioned games, they are all still slated to release within their respective time-frames. So there shouldn’t be any delays for when gamers get to trounce on some baddies in Mushroom Men, or shoot to their heart’s content in Legendary.

"We are thrilled to be joining forces with SouthPeak to continue to bring great original titles from independent developers to market with a stronger sales and distribution reach,” said Mike Wilson, CEO of Gamecock. “We have followed each other's progress closely over the last two years, and combining our team with theirs results in a very strong and well-rounded force in the market."

Yeah, well we’ll see how this whole acquisition turns out after the NPD results come in for GameCock’s titles. I just hope SouthPeak doesn’t pick up on the trend EA started by buying companies out and then burying them when the games don’t meet the sales quota. You can visit the Official SouthPeak Interactive Website for more information on the company and their games.
