Gamers Bring Gabe Newell To Australia

An Australian modder wanted Valve Software boss Gabe Newell to check out his latest creation, a Left 4 Dead campaign. He could've just emailed it, but instead he and a group of gamers decided to spring for Newell's plane ticket.

Over the course of 48 hours, gamers donated over $3,000 to the "Fly Gabe Newell" fundraiser. Newell and Valve employee Erik Johnson will travel to the Australia next week to meet with the modder, Joe W-A. The trip will be chronicled by Johnson on L4D.com.

Johnson and Newell will actually pay their own way on the trip, but the money gamers raised isn't going to waste. Instead, it was donated to the charity Child's Play. Hope Valve likes Joe's mod - it would really complete the Wayne's World-style Super Happy Ending they've got going here.
