Microsoft sent out word that the Games for Windows Live platform will now also allow users to digitally purchase games just like the Games On Demand service for Xbox Live. It’s basically Microsoft’s way of further trying to control every aspect of digital entertainment in your home.
According to Mike Ybarra, general manager of LIVE Engagement Services, he commented in the press release, saying… “We challenged ourselves to deliver an integrated platform that takes full advantage of the unique capabilities offered by the LIVE service. Our goal has always been to create a seamless online gaming experience for the Windows community, and Games on Demand is a great step toward that end.”Some of the titles appearing in the Games On Demand for Games for Windows Live, include: • “Resident Evil 5” (Capcom), • “Red Faction: Guerilla” (THQ) • “BattleStations: Pacific” (Eidos) • “World of Goo” (Microsoft) • “Osmos” (Microsoft) Take note that the last two are the Microsoft Games published versions of World of Goo and Osmos (more money for MS, of course). Just so gamers don’t feel like they’re being bombarded with a lot of money-grabbing announcements, Microsoft also let loose the news that a free Vista game, Tinker, will be available as a free download with the Games for Windows Live client. Gamers can use their Gamertags to log-in and make purchases via credit card or with MS Points. To get in on the Games for Windows Live action and download the new client, feel free to visit the Official Website. |
